Growing up Boyò had one wish – to be an artist. Born as Edward (Eddy) Owoeye to Nigerian immigrants he started his journey in London. As the younger child of only two siblings he exemplified a love for being in the spotlight and starred in school and church plays. He moved between the United Kingdom, America and Nigeria throughout his childhood and as a result was exposed to a wide range of music genres such as R&B, Pop, Dancehall and Afrobeat.
Raised in a strict culture that promotes sciences and career establishment Boyò pursued a college degree and earned a Bachelors in Science of Nursing in 2017. Still, he was known by family and friends to express himself constantly through bold fashion statements, photography and videography — often exploring the concepts of masculinity, sexuality and coming of age. It was after a night of karaoke that a friend heard Boyó sing and encouraged him to start recording music.
Inspired and taking his future into his own hands Boyò began exploring the world of making music by writing songs, taking vocal lessons and teaching himself the craft of digital audio workstations. In May 2019 he released his first single “Nobody,” a catchy record that has garnered over 30,000 streams on Spotify and doesn’t show signs of slowing down anytime soon . With his drive, talent and ambition, this is only the beginning of what is bound to be a fruitful union with the world of music.
